Alice Magnolia Braxton Williams
Alice M. Williams, 83, of Stephens City, VA, passed from labor to reward on Saturday April 2, 2011 at Envoy of Winchester in Winchester, VA, after an extended illness.
She was born June 18, 1927 in Lowesville, VA the youngest daughter of the late Orville Braxton and Murrell Wright Braxton. She was educated in the Virginia School System. She gave her life to Christ at an early age and became a member of St. Mary's Baptist Church in Lowesville. VA. She relocated to Bridgeport, CT as a young woman, and worked as a domestic housekeeper for many years. Later she trained and became a Certified Nursing Assistant.
She was married to Lawrence A. Williams who preceded her in death. They both decided after living in Connecticut to return to their roots in Virginia to live in Stephens City. She transferred her membership from St. Mary's Baptist Church to Mt. Carmel Baptist Church in Winchester, Virginia. She was employed by Hillcrest Manor (Envoy of Winchester) for many years. She retired in 2007. She was member of the Stephens City Senior Center.
To cherish her memory she is survived by two, daughters, Mary Jones of Naugatuck, CT., and Doris Robinson (Larry) of Bridgeport, CT.; a son Dale Braxton of San Antonio, TX; step-daughter, Rebecca Reed of Rhode Island two sisters, Mary Barbour of Crozet, VA, and Dorothy Robertson of Stratford, CT; a brother Julian Braxton (Elizabeth) of Bridgeport, CT; sister-in-law, Julia Braxton of Madison Heights, VA and Barbara Gore of Chesapeake, VA; brother-in-law, Garland Williams Sr. of Stephens City, VA; four grandchildren; Derek Jones, Kenya Robinson, Larry Robinson, Jr., and Desiree Braxton one great-grand daughter; Chesnee Whren; a host of nieces and nephews; other relatives; and a very special family "The Spencers"
She was preceded in death by her husband, Lawrence; son, Howard Lee "Paul"; grand-daughter, Denise Jones; four sisters, Pauline, Berta, Elsie, and Louise; five brothers, James "Sandy", Wade "Hamp", John "Pete", Willard, and Novell Lee.
A Celebration of Life will be 11:00 am Friday April 8, 2011 at Mt. Carmel Baptist Church in Winchester, Virginia, with Pastor Gilbert M. Mack, Jr. officiating.
Family will receive friends one hour before service on Friday April 8, 2011 at the church.
Interment will be in Shenandoah Memorial Park in Winchester, Virginia.
