Billy Howard Mason Dennis
Billy Howard Mason Dennis, 64 took her place in Heaven on December 2, 2013. Billy was born in Winchester, VA on October 4, 1949 to the late William and Stella Jackson Mason. She graduated with a Bachelor of Business Administration from Shenandoah University in 1989. She also attended Virginia State University in Petersburg, VA. Billy graduated from Clarke County High School in Berryville.
She retired from the U.S. Postal Service in 2010. Billy also was employed by Potomac Edison for 25 years.
Billy was a faithful member of St. Paul's on the Hill Episcopal Church in Winchester. She served on the Vestry and was active in the church's ministries.
Billy was a voracious reader. She was never without a book close by. This reading helped her to be informed widely and deeply on many subjects. She was even a contestant on Jeopardy due to her reading habits.
Billy was a leader in her family and community. She was frequently called upon for committees, organizations, and by friends because she had the skills that could facilitate a wide variety of needs. Billy was generous in service. She was the "taxi" to family and friends. She shuttled hundreds of people over thousands of mile to wherever they needed to go.
She was a big sports fan, never missing as opportunity to cheer on her North Carolina Tar Heels basketball team or the Pittsburgh Steelers.
Most of all Billy loved her family and friends deeply. She was the family ambassador. She sought out family far and wide, always taking the opportunity to spend time and connect with loved ones. She was a pillar of her family.
Billy will be sorely missed by her daughter, Kennis Powell of Berryville, VA., granddaughters: Lindsay Dennis and Kaitlynne Dennis of Berryville, grandson Donald "Boo" Powell, Jr. of Berryville; brother Ricardo Mason of Berryville, sisters: Sharon Parrish (Gary) of Berryville, Jeanie Mason of Berryville, Sheila Mason of Bellingham, WA., and Claudia "Moose" Mason of Fontana, CA. She gave her beloved nieces superlatives: Jillian Grubb-"Wonderful Niece of Bellingham, WA, Kelsey Parrish "Special Niece" Alexandria, VA, and Lacy Mason "Outstanding Niece Fontana, CA. She will also be missed by a host of cousins and friends.
A memorial service will be December 7, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Paul's on-the-Hill Episcopal Church in Winchester, followed by a repass at the Church.
In Lieu of flowers contributions may be sent to St. Paul's on-the-Hill Episcopal Church at 1527 Senseny Road Winchester, VA 22602.
