Carolyn L. Schuermann
Winchester, VA - Carolyn Lee (Mitchell) Schuermann of Winchester, died Thursday, March 5, 2015, at Blue Ridge Hospice in Winchester, VA. She was born August 29, 1941, in Welch, WV. Carolyn was a beloved wife, mother, daughter, sister, and grandmother.
Until her retirement in 1989 Carolyn enjoyed a long and successful career in the secretarial field, working for General Dynamics, Science Applications International Corporation, TASC, The Mitre Corporation, RVIA and Loudoun Hospital.
In retirement, her greatest joys included ballroom dancing and her much-adored pets. Carolyn was never happier than when gliding across the dance floor in competition and enjoyed lessons with several accomplished ballroom greats, including Louis Van Amstel of "Dancing With the Stars" and 'So You Think You Can Dance" fame.
Carolyn adored constant companion Nadia, an adopted Sheltie/Siberian Husky mix, as well as her darling Siberian Huskies Sheeba, Rusty and Sugar who had crossed the rainbow bridge in years past.
Carolyn is survived by her loving and dedicated husband, Leslie Claude Schuermann of Winchester, Virginia; daughters Candice Lynne (Stillwell) Parker of Phoenix, Arizona, and Jennifer Lee (Stillwell) Dixon of Palm Bay, Florida; granddaughters Jessica Dixon and Emily Dixon of Palm Bay, Florida; grandson Kevin Parker of Phoenix, Arizona; mother, Ruby Lee (Sexton) Mitchell of Princeton, West Virginia; sisters Nancy Lee Doyle of Princeton, West Virginia, and Susan Kay Barr of Woodbury, Minnesota; and four nieces and two nephews.
She is preceded in death by her father Everett Lee Mitchell and sister, Kathy Lynn Taylor.
A Celebration of Life service will be Wednesday March 11, 2015 at Cartwright Funeral Home at 232 E. Fairfax Lane, Winchester, Virginia, 22601 at 12 noon. Family will receive friends one hour before service at the funeral home.
Interment will be at Shenandoah Memorial Park at 1270 Front Royal Pike, Winchester, Virginia 22602.
Flowers may be sent to the Cartwright Funeral Home.
