Charles "Tiger" Matthew Jones, Sr.
Charles M. Jones, affectionately known as "Tiger", passed away on Tuesday June 7th at his home in Winchester. He was born in Augusta, Georgia on May 10, 1935, the son of the late Lucius and Katherine Sexton Jones.
As a young man, Tiger proudly served his country as a member of the United States Army during the Korean War. At the conclusion of his military service, Tiger decided to make the city of Winchester his home. He was a member of Mount Carmel Baptist Church in Winchester. In 2010 he retired from Federal Mogul, formerly known as Abex Corporation, after 45 years of service.
Tiger is survived by his children; Charles M. Jones Jr. (Sharon) of Newark, Delaware, Susan Barnes (Fitzgerald) of Louisa, Virginia, Linda Sarabia Jones (Jenny) Reston, Virginia, Patrick C. Jones of Winchester, Chyanna M. Jones and her mother Junetta Edwards (companion) also of Winchester. He also leaves to cherish his memories his granddaughters; Tiffany Jones of Newark, Delaware and Gabriella Barnes of Hampton, Virginia; his sisters Wilhelmina Carr of Jamaica, New York and Nelly Ruth Jones of Hampstead, New York, and a host of family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his son Floyd Lindsey Jones, and his brothers Lucius and Lindsey Jones.
A Celebration of Life service will be Friday June 10, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. at Mt. Carmel Baptist Church in Winchester, VA, with Dr. Gilbert M. Mack, Jr. bringing the Eulogy.
Interment will be in Orrick Cemetery in Winchester, VA, with Military Honors afforded by the United States Army and the Winchester VFW Post 2123.
Family will receive friends one hour before service e at the church.
