GLADYS CARY WALKER

September 25, 1934 – October 10, 2025

Gladys "Goonie" Walker, 91, a pillar and beloved member of the Winchester community, passed away peacefully on October 10, 2025.

Gladys was born on September 25, 1934, in Winchester, VA to the late George and Mamie Cary.

She was a lifelong member of St Paul A.M.E. Church where she served her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ as a member of the Usher and Missionary Boards. She devoted more than three decades to serving her community at CCAP, as well as volunteering at additional organizations and churches dedicated to feeding/clothing the homeless throughout her lifetime.

She is lovingly remembered by her children, Edward "Eddy" Glover (Cheryl) of Jessup, MD, Chrystal Walker of Gaithersburg, MD, and Mary Walker of Charlotte, NC., Three grandchildren, Edward "Tre" Glover III (Natalie) of Hanover, MD, Nelson "Alex" Glover (Mobolanle) of Elkridge, MD, and Jason Glover of Odenton, MD, two great grandchildren Nadia and Sophia; and a loving host of nieces and nephews (too many to name but she LOVED them ALL, including her favorites. LOL).

She was preceded in death by her husband, Edward "Chuck" Walker, sisters Alice Cary, Virginia "Ginny" Henderson, Gertrude "Gertie" Smith, Hallie Long, Hannah Scott, and Eleanor "Mickey" Brisco, and brother, George "Buck" Cary.

Family and friends are invited to a Celebration of Life service at Mount Carmel Baptist Church in Winchester, VA, on Monday, October 20, 2025. A viewing will be held at 11:00 a.m., followed by the service at 12:00 p.m. Officiate, Rev Kevin Wilson.

A repast (Mt. Carmel Baptist Church) will be immediately after the Internment at Orrick Cemetery.
