Howard Eugene "Genie" Polston

Howard E. "Genie" Polston, 72, of Winchester, VA, passed away on Sunday July 19, 2015 at Winchester Medical Center surrounded by his family and friends.

Genie was born on January 9, 1943 in Winchester, VA to the late Edward Harry Polston and Nannie Hester Nickens Polston. He married Elaine Marie Tross on June 12, 1967 in Hagerstown, MD.

Genie attended Douglas High School and served in the United States Army during the Vietnam Era in the 3rd Armored Division. He worked for the Winchester Medical Center and Teddy Finley Cleaners.

He is survived by his wife, Elaine; two sons; Howard Eugene Polston, Jr. and Shawn Christopher Polston, Sr. (wife- Laricka Polston) of Winchester, VA; a cousin who was raised as a brother, Linwood Ashby;
11 grandchildren, 4 great-grandchildren, several nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

He was preceded in death by two brothers, Edward "Pinky" Polston, Edward L. "Spike" Polston and a sister, Scarlette Polston

A Celebration of life Funeral Service will be 11:00 a.m. Friday July 24, 2915 at Mt. Carmel Baptist Church in Winchester, VA., with Pastor Gilbert M. Mack, Jr. officiating.

Family will receive friends 6-8:00 p.m. on Thursday July 23, 2015 at the church.

Interment will be in Shenandoah Memorial Park in Winchester, VA with Military Honors afforded by United States Army and the VFW Post #2123 of Winchester, VA.

Pallbearers will be Glenn Polston,Jerome Polston, William Beamer,III, Phillip Harris, Jr., Julius D.Pannell, Jr., Isaac E. Yates, Jr. and Joseph Nickens.

Honorary Pallbearers will be Isaac Yates, Clarence Dokes, James Nelson and Robert Scott.
