Jairus Lineunt butler
On March 19, 1963, Allison Leo Butler and Catherine Fields Butler experienced the first miracle of their marriage- the birth of a beautiful baby boy whom they named Jairus Lineunt Butler. Jairus was born in New Orleans, Louisiana. Through his parents' guidance and love for Christ, he accepted Christ as his Savior at an early age and was baptized at New Hope Baptist Church by the Rev. Dr. Freddie H. Dunn in New Orleans, Louisiana. The family later united with Pure Light Baptist Church under the leadership of Rev., Dr. Arthur Monday, Jr. Prior to moving to West Virginia, Jairus was a member at Beacon Light Baptist Church under the leadership of the founding pastor Rev. Dr. Kirk Byron Jones and later Rev. Dr. Dwight Webster (presently the pastor of the Christian Unity Baptist Church).
Jairus was a proud and competent graduate of the New Orleans public schools having attended Valena C. Jones and WCC Claiborne Elementary schools; Captau Junior High and graduated from John F. Kennedy High School in 1981. Upon completing four year years of military service in the US Army. Jairus received an honorable discharge. He continued his career development by enrolling in and completing the New Orleans Urban League's Word Processing program. He was soon hired as a temporary employee by the US Coast Guard and in 1991 became a permanent employee. In 1995, Jairus followed his job, moving from New Orleans to West Virginia when the Coast Guard relocated its employees.
Jairus was focused, fun-loving and a good friend, brother and son. Although he was a good bowler, he loved all sports… especially football and basketball. Jairus' favorite scripture is Psalm 23 a basic song of assurance of God's protection and providence.
He is survived and will always be remembered by his mother, Catherine Fields Butler-Williams; one sister, Torrie Lynn Butler; one niece, Kiara Lynn Butler,; several aunts, uncles, and cousins; very dear friends, Proffie and Donna Cook, Barry and Pat Williams of Winchester, VA, Charlie and Myra Williams of Waldorf, MD., a very special cousin, Pearl Thomas and many beloved co-workers.
