James C. "Peanut" Burks, Sr.
James C. Burks, Sr., 49, of Upper Marlboro, MD formerly of Winchester, Virginia died Thursday April 19, 2007 at his home.
Mr. Burks was born December 5, 1957 in Winchester, Virginia the son of David Burks and Mary Carter both of Winchester, Virginia. He was a graduate of Handley High School in Winchester, Va. He was listed in Who's Who among the American High School Students. He also was a 1981 graduate and played football at Salisbury University in Salisbury, MD. He was member of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Inc. He joined the Metro Transit Police Dept in 1984 where he served as a foot patrol and bicycle officer and a detective.
He was married Karen Wyatt Burks of Upper Marlboro, Md. for 23 years.
He leaves to cherish his memory with his wife,his mother and father,and a stepfather Charles Curry all of Winchester, Va.; one daughter, Kelsey M. Burks; two sons, James C. Burks, Jr., and Jonathan D, Burks all of Upper Marlboro, MD.; one sister, Anne C. Burks of Winchester, Virginia; and three brothers, Dennis E. Burks of Sterling, Virginia,Ryan Burks and Bernard Burks both of Winchester, Virginia
Two brothers David L. Burks, Jr., and Bruce Curry preceded him in death.
A Celebration of Life Service will be 12:00 pm Thursday April 26, 2007 at First Baptist Church of Glenarden Landover, MD. with Pastor Ronald E. Crawford giving the Eulogy.
Family will receive friends two hours before service at the church.
Burial will be in Cedar Hill Cemetery in Suitland, MD.
