James Edward "Jimmy" Cook, Sr.
James Edward Cook, Sr., 66, of Charles Town, WV, better known as "Jimmy" by his family and friend, passed away on November 9, 2011 at Winchester Medical Center in Winchester, Virginia. He was born on March 30, 1945 in Brucetown, VA, the youngest son of the late Joseph Cook and Blanche Carter Cook. He was an avid fisherman and loved his grandchildren and great-grandchildren dearly.
He leaves to cherish his memory, 13 children; Angie (Tyrone) Johnson of Winchester, VA, James E. Cook, Jr., William Cook, Kenneth (Amy) Cook, Charles (Cheryl) Cook all of Martinsburg, WV, Timothy D. Brown of Washington, DC, Charlene Collison of Summit Point, WV, David (Katina) Burns of Charlottesville, VA, Nathaniel (Tiara) Burns of Capon Bridge, WV, Susie (Kenneth) Curry of Summit Point, WV, Curtis (Roberta) Payton of Martinsburg, WV, Shelia (William) Freeman of Berryville, VA , and Henry Payton of Martinsburg, WV; 2 sister-in-laws, Mary Cook of Berryville, VA, and Mary Cook of Charles Town, WV; 39 grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
One granddaughter, Renata (Thomas) Foreman he helped raise as his own.
6 brothers, his twin Charles Allen, Earl, Paul, Randolph, Robert, Joseph, and Eugene Cook; 2 sisters, Josephine and Pauline Cook; a granddaughter, Shaunta Burns and a grandson, all preceded him in death.
A Celebration of Life Service will be 11:00 am Saturday November 19, 2011 at Mt. Carmel Baptist Church in Winchester, VA, with Pastor Gilbert M. Mack, Jr. officiating and Rev. John Price giving the Eulogy.
Family will receive friends 7:00 to 8:30 pm Friday November 18, 2011 at the church.
Interment will be at Mt. Hope Cemetery in Martinsburg, WV.
