Obituary

JerryAnn Spinnie was born on January 26, 1932, in Upperville, VA, to the late Levi and Helen Spinnie. She entered into eternal rest on Monday, April 4, 2022.

She was educated through the Fauquier County school system.

She married Theodore Dade, Sr. on June 21, 1952, and was blessed with three children. After the early passing of her husband, she lived with her mother. Together, they raised her three children, and later raised two of her grandchildren.

She was baptized by the late Rev. Nathaniel Johnson in 1954 at Mt. Pisgah Baptist Church. She worshiped and served on the Usher Board, served as Church Clerk, was involved in the Pastor's Aid, and Women's Ministry, as well as other ministries where needed. The pandemic deterred her in the last two years of her life from attending church services in person.

JerryAnn was known by many in the Upperville and Middleburg communities. She worked for many of the prominent families in the communities. One of the most notable and memorable to her was working for the late Senator John Warner when he was married to Elizabeth Taylor. Up until 2021, she continued to work part time for his daughter. Ms. Warner considered Jerry, as she called her, a close and personal confidant, and someone she trusted to oversee her property and manage things when she was traveling.

JerryAnn was known to all to be sharp witted, never hesitating to lovingly speak the truth, whether you liked it or not. She was always kind and giving. All were welcome in her small home. She loved hosting out of town family and friends after the annual 2 nd Sunday in June all day church service. Everyone looked forward to sitting around her kitchen table, eating her signature dishes, especially her caramel cake, after the evening service.

Then there was her Christmas brunch she loved hosting for her family. Once word got out, many, in addition to immediate family, sought an invitation and started coming. She loved preparing and hosting that brunch so much, that when the doctor wanted to schedule her open-heart surgery, she insisted it had to be after her Christmas brunch.

JerryAnn leaves to cherish her memory: three children; Avis Jackson (Jim), Theodore Dade, Jr. (Linda), Diane Jackson (Mike); one God son; Raymond Howard, Jr.; ten grandchildren; Brian (Ann), Derrick, Atoya (BJ), James (Jakieda), Adia (Verdice), Michelle, Sean (Jennifer), DeAndre, Dana, and Deniesha; nineteen great grandchildren; Janet Reid and Carol Ambers, whom she also thought of as daughters; Ann Bland and Merley Robinson, whom she referred to as her sisters, and talked with every evening before going to sleep, along with a host of other loving cousins and friends.

JerryAnn was preceded in death by her mother and father, husband, brother Levi Spinnie, granddaughter Anisha Dade, and cousin/brother Albert Bland.
