Obituary

                                                                                   Jerry Thomas Newlin

Jerry Thomas Newlin, 72, of Grimes, Virginia (Frederick County), entered his eternal home with the Lord on September 16, 2026. Born on July 12, 1954, Jerry was the beloved son of Eugene Ashbury Newlin, Sr. and Margaret Dick Newlin.

He was preceded in death by his two brothers, Eugene Ashbury Newlin, Jr. and James Newlin.

A proud graduate of John Handley High School, Jerry dedicated many years of service as a meter reader for the City of Winchester, Virginia. Known for his gentle spirit and unwavering kindness, Jerry lived a life marked by faithfulness—to his family, his friends, and especially his church family.

Jerry possessed a special gift of praise, lifting his voice joyfully at every opportunity to honor God. His love for worship was matched only by his deep compassion for those experiencing grief. Family and friends often spoke of his unique calling—his heartfelt devotion to all things related to funeral service. Jerry attended countless funerals, including those for individuals he had never met personally, simply to offer comfort and support. He gave sympathy bouquets, created beautiful casket sprays, and served families in quiet, meaningful ways.

Visitors to Jerry’s home often smiled at the sight of his front parlor, lovingly arranged like a small funeral chapel—complete with a casket and guest registry. Jerry had no fear of death, for he knew with certainty where his eternal home would be.

Funeral services will be held Monday, September 21, at Wesley Chapel in Winchester, VA. Family visitation will begin at 11:00 AM, followed by the service at 12:00 PM. Reverend Tyler Phillips, Reverend Douglas Fraser, and Reverend Allan Morrison will officiate.

Interment will follow immediately at Wesley Chapel Cemetery.

Jerry leaves behind a legacy of love, faith, and devoted service to his cherished family and all who were blessed to know him
