John Henry Spear Shellmon, Jr.

John H Spear Shellmon Jr, 76 years transitioned on April 9, 2021.  He was born on October 17, 1944 in Philadelphia, PA. the son of the late Mable Caroline Haines and John Henry Spear Shellmon Sr.

John was educated in the Philadelphia Public School system and graduated from Germantown High School in 1964.  He served in the Armed Forces in Vietnam.  John spent his professional career as an auto-mechanic, and later opened his own auto repair shop and retired as a truck driver. He had a love for photography all his life and had exhibitions of his work in various businesses, art galleries, and festivals.

John was a kindhearted man who enjoyed making others laugh and feel good.  He loved taking his camera everywhere he went.  He made a lasting impression on everyone he met and his light from his spirit shone bright.  He loved God, good people and food.

He leaves to cherish his memory two daughters, Heather Leigh Thompson (David Thompson) of Pennsauken NJ and Sithy Halima Wanamaker (Kenneth Wanamaker) of Martinsburg, WV and one son Jamal Shellmon (Quanda Shellmon) of Philadelphia, PA.  He leaves 7 grandchildren Cianna, AJ, Nicholas, Jasmine, Johanna, Deion and Mia.

May his soul enjoy eternity with our Father God in heaven.

Inurnment with Military Honors will be 12:00 pm at Culpeper National Cemetery on April 23, 2021.
