Joseph (Jet) Emanuel Townley
Joseph E. Townley (JET), formerly of Boyce, VA departed this life, December 13, 2013 in Albuquerque, N.M. where he had made his home for the last 25 years.
He was born February 13, 1950 to the late Jane Pollard Townley and Ernest William Townley.
A graduate of Clarke County High School, "JET" was the recipient of the Winchester Star Leadership Scholarship. He completed a Bachelor of Science degree at Virginia State College and earned a MBA from Darden School of Business University of Virginia in Charlottesville, VA.
He was a full time substitute teacher in the Clarke County School System; worked at General Electric, American Woodmark, Amtrack, staff photographer at the Winchester Star, owner and photographer of Rainforest Studios in Albuquerque, N.M.
He is survived by two sisters: Jane Ernestine Townley (Charles) Jackson of Berryville, VA and Deborah Lea Townley, of Boyce, VA and two brothers: Charles Townley of Stephen City, VA and John B. Townley of Boyce, VA.; one step-brother, Terry Randolph; two aunts, Mrs. Thelma Ross of Washington, DC and Charlotte Pollard of Boyce, VA.
He was proceeded in death by his maternal grandmother Mrs. Annie Fells, and his great-niece Madison L. Jackson; step-sister, Emma Walker; three uncles, Rev. Roland Pollard, Nathaniel Pollard and Leon Townley.
A celebration of life Service will be 11:00 am Saturday January 11, 2014 at Cartwright Funeral Home in Winchester, VA.
Elder Franklin Roberts will officiate and bring the eulogy.
Inurnment will be at a later date.
