Obituary

Kenneth James "Bop Daddy" Cary

Kenneth James Cary, lovingly known as "Bop Daddy", 75 of Winchester, VA departed this life to be with the Lord on Sunday, January 10, 2016 at his home with his wife and daughters.

Brother Cary was born January 19, 1940, in Winchester, Virginia, the son of the late Mary Virginia Henderson. He was married to his devoted, loving wife of 32 years, Barbara Leslie Rose. As a child, he was especially loved and cared for by his grandmother Mamie, and greatly spoiled by his aunts Hannah and Eleanor. He was a member of Saint Paul African Methodist Episcopal Church. He was employed at Z &M Sheet Metal Inc. of Winchester, VA for 20 years until his retirement.

Bop Daddy became a family man who willingly gave his all for his family. He enjoyed nothing more than knowing he had fulfilled their needs. He will be remembered as a man with a kind and gentle soul who loved to have a good time and a man who was loved by many.

As a young man, he was well-renown in the tri-state area for his ability to play billiards; or as we would normally say shoot pool. His passions include the sports scene in which he shared many, many known and unknown facts in all sports. And although he lived on the East Coast, he was and always will be a die-hard Oakland Raiders fan. He was an avid reader of the newspapers, especially the sports section, scouring the information from front to back. He enjoyed life and all of its challenges to the fullest. He will be missed in all walks of life in many venues by the many who knew and loved him.

He leaves to cherish his life and memory his adoring wife, Barbara ;two daughters, Shayla Cary of Winchester, VA, Katrina Lowry of Hagerstown, MD; three sons, Kenneth "KJ" Jackson, Phillip "Wardell" Jackson, both Winchester VA and Jeffrey Martin of Columbia, MD; 7 grandsons, Rumeal Smith, Nino Smith, Kai Martin, Kole Martin, Solomon Johnson, Noah Johnson, Josiah Johnson, 3great grandsons: Kendall Lincoln Jr., and Melec and Quija Smith; his brother, Danny Conley of Capon Bridge, WV and his sister, Jenna Gaye Payton Warren of Winchester, VA; two aunts Hallie Long and Gladys Walker of Winchester, Virginia; and a host of nephews, nieces and extended family friends.

Preceding him in death are his 2 grandsons, Kendall Lincoln Sr., and Nehemiah Johnson.

The family will receive friends on Friday, January 15, 2016, at 12:00pm followed by the Celebration of Life Service at 1:00pm at Mt. Carmel Baptist Church, 1317 Pleasant Valley Drive, Winchester, VA.

A private inurnment in Orrick Cemetery will be held at a later date.
