Lawrence (Baba) Curry, age 79, of Winchester, VA was escorted into heaven on Friday, April 5, 2019. Mr. Curry was born to the late George Washington Curry Sr. and Dorothy Turner Curry on October 4, 1939, in Winchester, VA. He was the fourth child of seven children. Baba grew up in Winchester and attend Douglass school. As a teenager he loved playing football and basketball.
In 1958, Baba married Arlene Blow and from that union they had four sons. He was a member of John Mann United Methodist Church in Winchester, VA. He was a member of the United Methodist Men's Ministry and served as counter on the Finance Committee. In 1983, he married Shelia Payne and gained a stepson. Christmas was his special holiday, so much so that he started his annual outdoor decoration of many lights in early November. Lawrence wasn't soft on words, but there was no doubt about the love for his family.
He leaves to cherish his memory three sons: Bruce D. Curry (Michelle), Leslie (Lester) Curry, Raymond T. Curry, and Lawrence T. Curry (preceded him in death), and Sam Butler (stepson). Two sisters, Helen C. Ford of Winchester, VA, Dorothy Finley of Temple Hills, MD; three brothers, Charles (Bobby) Curry of Winchester, VA, George W. Curry, Jr of Winchester, VA, Clarence E. Curry of Martinsburg, WVA and Richard Curry (deceased) Winchester, VA. He also leaves two uncles, Jesse Curry of Stephens City, VA and James Ogden of Columbus, Ohio. An aunt Betty Fields of Cleveland, Ohio. Baba was the patriarch of five generations: 9 grandchildren, 18 great grandchildren, and 2 great great grandchildren.
