IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Lee Tyler
Lavender
October 18, 1950 – October 1, 2019
Lee Tyler Lavender
Lee Tyler Lavender, 68, lovingly known as "Tee Tee or Tee Brown", 68 of Winchester, VA departed this life to be with his Lord on Tuesday, October 1, 2019 at his home
Lee Tyler Lavender was born October 18, 1950, in Winchester, VA., the son of the late Frank A. Lavender, Sr. and Mary Marlowe Lavender. He attended Douglas School before moving to Hagerstown, MD where he resided for many years before returning to Winchester.
He was a life member of the Clubhouse Crew and the Hounds Dogs. His zest for life could always be found in his gregarious nature with one his favorite sayings being "It's Free!".
He continued to use that same statement when he spoke of his life-saving changes because of Jesus, and he would tell you earnestly, "it's free, Salvation is free!"
He was a soldier in the army of his Jesus at St. Paul AME Church in Winchester, VA. He loved his Jesus and he loved his church with his passion being evident in his singing in the Sanctuary Choir and Men's Day Choir. His favorite solo selection was O' Lord We Need You which he recently sang at his family reunion.
He was previously employed with National Fruit for 19 years. Most recently, he employed at Chop Stick Restaurant and Just Us Barbershop where he worked as a Custodial Maintenance Technician until his illness prevented his working. Tee was an avid Dallas Cowboy fan and would top any sports conversation on a heartbeat to support "Dem Boys". He was also the "Town Cryer" on Kent Street where once he knew you (and he knew everybody), he would full heartedly call your name out with passion when you passed him at his job or anywhere on the streets.
Left to mourn his memory are his beloved sister, Gwen (David) McDuffie of Orange Bend, Fl., one brother, Frank A. Lavender, Jr. (Yolanda) of Louisville, Ky; three sons, Brandon of Winchester, VA, Cornell of West, Va. and Lee Lavender of Raleigh, N.C.; two, grandsons, Jordan of Hagerstown, Legend of Winchester; two granddaughters, Tierston and Ava, and one great-granddaughter, Ridley; nieces and nephews, Rev. Joe Fowlkes and a multitude of friends including the Club House/ Dog Pound members and many, many other friends who have become extended family.
He is preceded in death by his parents, and his granddaughter, Tylesa Lavender.
A Celebration of Life Service will be October 12th 11:00 am at Mt. Carmel Baptist Church 1317 South Pleasant Valley Road in Winchester, VA., with Rev. Kevin E. Wilson.
The family will receive friends one hour before service at the church.
Inurnment will be later.
