Leon Witherspoon
Leon Witherspoon, 65, of Hampton, VA, passed away Sunday May 10th 2015 at his home in Hampton, VA.
He was born July 10th 1950 in Jackson, TN., the son of the late Robert Moody and Euary Mae Olser of Jackson, TN. Leon served as the Division's first Black Captain of the Hampton Fire Dept.
in Hampton, VA. He was a US Navy Veteran.
He was married to Sharon Austin Witherspoon of Hampton, VA.
He leaves to cherish his memory with his wife and mother is; a daughter, LeShan Nichole Witherspoon of Hampton, VA; two sons, Leon Anthony Witherspoon of Alexandria, VA and Marcus Aaron Witherspoon of Hampton, VA; five brothers, Harry Witherspoon, Ray Earl Osler, Eugene Witherspoon and Larry Witherspoon all of Jackson, TN., and John Moody of Goldsboro, NC; a sister Shelly Ann Witherspoon of Cordova, TN and other relatives and friends.
Celebration of Life Memorial Service will be 11:00 am Saturday July 11, 2015 at St. Matthew Reform A.M.E. Church 1002 Hampton Ave., Newport News, VA.
