Louis Lynwood Ashby

Louis Lynwood Ashby of 414 Chase St, Winchester, VA, passed from earthly labor to his heavenly reward on Sunday, January 7, 2024, while residing at Warren Memorial Hospital Lynn Care, Front Royal VA.

He was born at his parent's home on August 30, 1949, the son of the late Lynwood (Mose) Ashby and Elizabeth Nickens Ashby.

Having always attended church whenever possible, for over 60 years, he is acknowledged as a life-long member of Mt. Carmel Baptist Church, the church he loved. He enjoyed going to church and was always excited when church members came to visit, especially when he was given communion by his pastor.

He always tried to assist the elderly in the community, offering to go downtown for them and doing other things that they may have needed done.

While he was physically able, Lynwood loved walking the dog and fellowshipping with friends and neighbors on his porch.

He is survived by two sisters, Kathy Long of Winchester, VA and Trudy Ashby of Seattle, WA. He also leaves to mourn him, his caregiver, Eugene Polston and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and close friends.

Along with his father and mother, three brothers (Kenny, Tony, Terry) and one sister (Kim) have preceded him in death.

A Celebration of Life Service will be at 12:00 p.m. on January 19, 2024, at Mt. Carmel Baptist Church with the Rev. Barbara Davis officiating.

Visitation will be one hour before service at the church.

Inurnment will be at a later date.
