Lucille Wood Jackson Scott, 72, Winchester, VA., departed this life on Tuesday, July 9, 2013 very peacefully at Inova Hospital in Alexandria, VA.
She was born August 17, 1940 in Clarke County the daughter of the late Raymond R. Wood and Helen Townley Wood.
She is leaves to cherish her memories 4 daughters, Helen "Boo-Boo" Smith (Livingston), Deloris "LuLu" Shabazz (Caliph), Pamela Shand (Dean)and Sallie Gomez (Anthony); 5 sons, Samuel "Pete" Wood (Terisana),Charles "Football" Jackson (Misty), John Jackson (Keisha), Michael Jackson and Roland "Don" Jackson; one brother, Raymond Wood and one sister Mary Rush; 42 grandchildren, 28 great-grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews and friends.
Lucille received her education in Berryville, VA. She joined Boyce Baptist Church on Boyce, VA at an early age and later joined Mount Taber Baptist Church in Bunker Hill WV where she was a member for more than 20 years.
Lucille was a Christian, wife, mother grandmother, sister, aunt, in-law, and friend. She was a wonderful woman with so much love in her heart. She loved playing BINGO, reading shopping listening to gospel music and going to godpel programs. When you called her, she would always pick up the phone and say "Yeah" instead of "Hello". She was famous for saying "Uhhh Huh" and rolling her eyes while talking.
A son, James " Fuzz" Jackson, 2 brothers, James and John Wood, 2 sisters, Dorothy Pollard and Francis Walker all preceded her in death.
A Celebration of Life Service will be 12:00 p.m., Saturday, July 20, 2013 at Cartwright Funeral Home in Winchester, VA with Pastor Peter Thomas officiating.
Visitation will be held at one hour before service at the funeral home.
Interment will be in Charles "Buster" Jackson Community Cemetery in White Post, VA.
