Marjary E. Farquharson

Marjary E. Farquharson, 81, of Winchester, Va., originally from Portland, Jamaica, died on Saturday July 15, 2017 peacefully at home in Winchester, VA.

She was born on June 29, 1936 the daughter of the late Stephen Jones and Eugenie Harris Jones. She was a member of Zion Baptist Church in Berryville, VA. She and her husband (Shorty) operated the Caribbean Food Store on Kern Street for 20 years.

She was married to Clifford Farquharson of Winchester, VA.

Surviving with her husband and daughter, Andrea Farquharson both of Winchester, VA.; a son, (nephew) Larry Strachan of Jamaica and Byron Jones of Canada; step daughter, Vevine Farquharson of Winchester, VA; two step sons; Horace Farquharson of Winchester, VA., and Devon Farquharson from Jamaica; sisters, Ivy Jones McCauley and Joan Senior of Canada; niece in law, Sharon Smith of Winchester, VA.; two step-grandsons and two great-step-grandsons of Winchester, VA; a host of nieces and nephews in America, Canada and Jamaica, and family and friends.

A brother, Clarence Jones and sister, Muriel Jones both preceded her in death.

Family will receive friends Friday July 21, 2017, 7:00-9:00 pm at Cartwright Funeral Home in Winchester, VA.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 11:00 am on Saturday July 29, 2017 at Mt. Carmel Baptist Church in Winchester, VA., with Rev. Delbert Hicks officiating.

Interment will be at Mt. Hebron Cemetery in Winchester, VA on July 29, 2017.
