Marvel Gray "Tommy" Thompson II
It is with great sadness that the family of Marvel "Tommy" Thompson announces his passing on Wednesday, August 29, 2018 at the age of 67. He was the son of the late Marvel and Orissa Thompson.
Tommy leaves to cherish his memory his loving wife, Carolina and their three children, Charlon, Christopher " Casey", and Celeste (Winston Brown)). Tommy is also survived by his son Marvel Gray Thompson III; daughter, Orissa Thompson; grandchildren Leiland Thompson and Khalani Brown; brothers, Harry Thompson (Michelle), Grant Thompson; and sister, Ruth (Marvin Scott), and a host of relatives.
Tommy attended and graduated from Handley High School, where he was a standout three sport athlete; later honored by his induction into the Hall of Fame.
Tommy attended and participated in sports at Fairmont and Shenandoah Colleges, prior to his enlistment into the United States Air Force. During his twelve years enlistment period, He served as an air traffic controller and while stationed at Clark Air Force base in the Philippians he met, fell in love with, and married Carolina.
In 1991, Mt. Pinatubo erupted, Clark Air Force Base was evacuated, causing Carol and their children to be relocated to the United States; Tommy would later join his family and settle din his home town (Winchester, VA).
Tommy was an avid sports fan, enjoyed music (playing the drums), and martial arts.
On August 29, 2018 Marvel Gray "Tommy" Thompson II was relieved of his pain and suffering, when the Lord inducted him into hid "Hall of Fame"
A funeral service in memory of Tommy will be Tuesday, September 4, 2018 at 11:00 am at Mt. Carmel Baptist church, 1317 S. Pleasant Valley Road Winchester, VA.
Visitation will be one hour before service at the church.
