Mary Frances Hughes of Winchester, Virginia passed away peacefully in her home Friday May 16, 2014

Mary Hughes was born October 30th, 1940 in Winchester, VA., the daughter of the late Louis and Mary Jackson. She attended Frederick Douglas School in Winchester, VA. She worked at the George Washington Hotel before becoming a Nurse's Assistant at the Winchester Memorial Hospital and also at the Hillcrest Nursing home. She later moved to Baltimore, Maryland where she was the daycare provider for her grandkids. In 2011, she returned back home to Winchester, VA

Mary enjoyed reading, dancing, singing, traveling, meeting people and most of all spending time with family and friends. She was known as "Mom" to everyone.

Survived by daughters; Lisa Chisem of Daytona Beach, Florida, Sheila Hughes and Tina Hughes of Winchester, VA; Sons, Naashon "Chris" Hughes and wife Naomi Hughes of Harker Heights, Texas, and Matthew "Juney" Hughes and wife Shelby Hughes of Hagerstown, Maryland; Brother Louis Jackson Jr and sister Diane Jackson both of Winchester, VA., 12 grandchildren, 5 great grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Celebration of Life Service will be 11:00 am Saturday May 24, 2014 at Cartwright Funeral Home in Winchester, VA, with Elder Rosina Johnson officiating.

Family will receive friends 7:00 to 8:00 pm Friday May 23, 2014 at the funeral home.

Interment will be in Orrick Cemetery in Winchester, VA.
