Mary Elizabeth Pool

MARY ELIZABETH POOL was born on October 14, 1930 in Columbia, SC. the daughter of Laura Jones and Cathlean Culp- Jones. She went home to be with the Lord on October 19, 2017 at The Winchester Medical Center, located in Winchester, VA.

Mary E. Pool, graduated from high school and devoted her life to serving others. She married her late husband Richard Pool in 1985. She worked for the State of Maryland for 29 years in Health and food service department. She transitioned to the Virginia area for retirement. During her years of retirement, she worked as a care giver to the elderly, had a catering business and enjoyed sewing/making clothes.

She was a faithful member of the Eastern Star where she volunteered a lot of her time. She was a licensed Minister of the Gospel and committed to serving at the Worshiping without Walls Ministry, where she served as a Mother of the Church. She loved the Lord and made sure she shared how good God was to everyone she encountered.

Mary is preceded in death by her parents Laura Jones and Cathlean Culp-Jones, her husband Richard Pool her three sons Bruce Jones Cunningham, Grady Thomas Cunningham, Jr. and Bobby Gene Cunningham, four sisters Martha Jones, Ollie "Peggy" Stephens, Sarah Jones and Sallie Mae Howie and four brothers' Alexander Jones, Joe R. Jones, Sr., Laura Jones, Jr., and Freddy Lee Jones.

She leaves to cherish her memory; sister Shirley Turner of Rock Hill, SC, and five brothers Willie "Peanut" Jones, of Charlotte NC, Lewis "Woodrow" Jones (Teresa), Fort Mill, NC, Billy Rae Jones (Mabel) Columbus, OH, Wardlow Jones, Columbus, OH, and Fletcher Jones, CA . Her daughter Betty Jean Cunningham, Charlotte, NC, four loving grandchildren, Catina Bridges (Earnest), Cheltenham, MD, Catrina Simpson, District Heights, MD, LaShay McCoy (William) and Daron Cunningham, Charlotte, NC. Four great grandchildren; Alexis Simpson, Baily Bridges, Jakil Cunningham and Drae Walker. A number of great grandchildren, God Children and everyone that claimed her as a Mom, Grandma and a Friend.

A Celebration of Life Service will be Thursday October 26, 2017 at John Mann United Methodist Church in Winchester, VA. at 12:00 p.m.

Visitation will be one hour before service at the church.

Inurnment will be at a later date.
