Mary Virginia Sloane

Mary Virginia Sloane aka "Jenny Jett," 79, transitioned peacefully on Thursday, November 29, 2018 in her home in Winchester Virginia.
"Jenny" as she was affectionately known, was born February 9, 1939 in Front Royal Virginia to James "Russell" and  Gladys "Corrine" Jett. Jenny was a phenomenal mother and grandmother who was family first always.  She was a member of many clubs throughout her lifetime including the Elks Lodge, Red Hats Club, and Poodle Club.  She had a fierce green thumb that could make anything grow. She loved to crochet and knit and shared her gift with many others.  Some of her favorite past times included:  being with family, music, television especially westerns, canning, playing cards, bowling and baking her famous pies and pound cakes.
For over 25 years she was production worker at Capital Records in Winchester, VA.  Additionally, she served 20 years with the Winchester Public Schools System as a Mail Courier and Transit Specialist for children with special needs.  In later years, you could see her smiling
as a Wal-Mart greeter.
She is survived by two daughters:  Doris V. Charite-Jett and Peggy Ann Jett-Torrez; and adopted son Earl Turner; siblings Louise Jett (Maine), Rebecca Ford (Maryland), Walter Jett (Florida), Daniel Jett (Virginia), and Cora Hartridge (Maryland).  She was a proud grandmother of 5 including:  Carmen Berry (Maryland), Louis Clemons (Virginia), Jarrell Moorer (Virginia), Adrian Jett (Virginia), and Tarrence Moorer (Maryland).  She was preceded in death by her son Arthur James Jett and her parents James and Gladys as well has her sister Ora Jett and brother James Jett.  Additionally, she has 17 great-grand kids and 1 great-great grandson and a host of nieces, nephews and god children who dearly loved her.
