Helen Juanita Walker
Helen Juanita Walker, of Winchester, VA, departed this life on Monday April 23rd, at the age of 95 at a local nursing home.
Mrs. Juanita Walker was born February 23, 1917 in Capon Bridge, WV. She was the daughter of Harrison and Lavenia Mason Washington.
Mother Walker united with the Supreme Council of the House of Jacob in the early 1950s. She was a church mother and served faithfully in the Winchester Mission. She is remembered by many for her duties of watching over the young children during the service hours.
During her younger years and the times of her good health, she was a faithful servant attending her services and traveling to the Convocations in Bethlehem, Township, Ohio. She was the president of the Senior Saints Organization for a number of years. Her trust and belief in God was demonstrated in the life she lived and in her praises to God. Even as her eyesight and health began to fail, she was found reading her bible and using her songbook and as she sang the songs of Zion.
Mother Walker spent three years in the Jacobs Dwelling Nursing Home where she enjoyed being with the other residents there. She greatly rejoiced during their musical devotions and church services that were held weekly. Her powerful prayers where enjoyed by many as she occasionally offered up the blessings for the daily meals.
She was married to the late Bro. Jimmy E. Walker.
She is survived by three sons, Presiding Elder Floyd E. Walker (Elderess Daley) and Bro. Daniel F. Walker both of Winchester, VA, and Joe Ray Walker(Jo Ann) of New Jersey; four daughters, Sister Betty Long, Mother Anna M. Curry (Bro. George) all of Winchester, VA, and Joan E. Jenkins (Dorsey) of California; four sisters, Mother Lois Mason, Mother Rosella Jackson, Mrs. Mrs. Alstine Walker and Mrs. Louise Butler.; A host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.
Three sons, William F. Walker, Deacon Jimmy J. Walker and Bro. Samuel A Walker;
a daughter, Sissy; seven sisters, Mother Virginia Crittenden, Elderess Mary Cordelia Washington, Mrs., Lillian Prather, Senior Mother Ethel Doleman, Sister Jessie Hamilton, Mrs. Gladys Elliott, Sister Mae Doleman,; six brothers, Mr. Harrison(Sonny) Washington, Mr. Lewis Alan Washington, Mr. Floyd (Bobby) Washington, Elder John (Shorty) Washington, Elder Pearl Washington and Mr. Herman Washington
all preceded her in death.
Mother Helen Juanita Walker will be greatly missed by her family and a host of relatives and friends who loved her dearly.
A Celebration of Life Service will be 11:00 a.m., Saturday April 28, 2012 at the Supreme Council of the House of Jacob at 1420 Red Bud Road in Winchester, VA. Services will be officiated by Adv. Pr. Elder Clarence Miller and assisted by Adv. Pr. Elder Mark Faith.
Family will receive friends Saturday April 28, 2012 one hour before service at the Church.
Pallbearers will be members of the church.
Interment will be at Orrick Cemetery in Winchester, VA.
