Obituary

Nimrod Alfonso "Roddy" Jackson, Jr.

Nimrod Alfonso Jackson, Jr. gained eternal rest on the morning of Friday January 13th, 2023. Nimrod was born on,

April 7, 1943, in Winchester, VA and was the eldest son to the late Sergeant First Class Nimrod Jackson Sr. of Campbellsville, KY

(formerly, of Winchester, VA) and Sophia Jackson-Sanford of Millwood. VA.

From an exceedingly early age, Nimrod had always been quiet, reserved, hardworking,

and most of all, impeccably dressed. He naturally gravitated towards fashion     and as an extension of his meticulous nature, these qualities even transferred

in his quest to maintain immaculate yard work at his home and surrounding neighborhood. Nimrod was an avid movie goer. On many Sundays he would

take trips to the Winchester movie theatre to catch the latest films; he took.

this very seriously. He was educated in the Clarke County School system, during segregation, and attended Johnson Williams School in Berryville, VA;

from grade school through high school and graduated in 1961. During his

time in school, he was a devoted patrol of icer, always lending a helping hand. He was well-respected by his peers and took on leadership roles with the youth in the community. Upon graduation, Nimrod decided to depart his hometown in Millwood to pursue better opportunities in Washington, D.C., where he permanently settled and started

his first job at Kanns Department Store (former Woodward and Lothrop)

where he was revered top salesperson.

Nimrod was a husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and a friend. He loved family gatherings, bowling, music, holidays, community activities and parties. He was a man that would give his last to see that another person happy and help with their progression. He was a man of integrity , pride, wit, laughter, compassion, style subtlety, devoted to family, ethics, and most of all he was determined; determined to make something of himself and lead the way for those to follow.  He was a fighter to the very end. He loved God and most of life.

Nimrod leaves to cherish his memory: children Monique Jackson, Sean Jackson, three grandchildren; Briona Jackson, Leisha Jackson, Malik Jackson; Two brothers, Jonathan (Johnny) Jackson, Wesley Jackson, one uncle; Colonel Charles Henry Jackson; a host of nephews,  other relatives and close friends.
