On Wednesday, June 8, 2022, Patricia Ann Smith was called home to be with the Lord.  Patricia was born August 4, 1948, to Will Sr. and Mary "Magdalene" Newman, the second child of this union.

Pat had the gift entertaining and cooking.  There was no "soul" food that she could not cook.  She enjoyed reading, dancing, singing, traveling, playing cards, and spending time with family and friends.  She would often take trips to Atlantic City and Charles Town, WV.

For over 40 years, Pat worked as a caregiver.  Her love and passion for people allowed her to care for two renowned opera singers after which, she worked in several skilled nursing facilities as a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA).

Pat is survived by two sons, Paul "David" Downing (Patricia) and John Downing III (Diane); two daughters, Stacey Cuffey (Perry) and Angela Trice; sixteen grandchildren; ten greatgrandchildren; two brothers; Will Newman Jr. and Tyrone Burrell; two nieces, and a host of friends and family.  She was preceded in death by her parents, Will and Mary; daughter, Nambia, and sister Regina "Diane".

Inurnment will be private
