Philip Syvester Harris, Sr.

Philip Sylvester Harris, Sr. was born February 29, 1948, to the late Charles Harris, Sr., and Romaine Smith Harris Jackson. He was one of five children.

He began attending Mt. Carmel Baptist Church as a young boy and he was later baptized. He served in the Men's and the Showers for Souls Ministries and was honored as Father of the Year.

He attended Douglas School in Winchester and Eastern High School in Washington, DC. He worked for Rubbermaid Commercial Products while attending trade school to study electronics. He retired from Comcast in 2010. After retirement, he worked for Chuck's Cleaning service and delivered groceries for Wal-Mart.

He was preceded in death by brothers; Russel Smith and Charles Harris, Jr.; sister, Ann Harris and many aunts and uncles. Left to cherish his memory are sons Darryl Williams (Felicia), Matthew Lyn Thomas, Philip Harris, Jr., and Mark Humbert; sister Shirley Harris Burks, his faithful companion Anita Jackson; eleven grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; God-daughter Mercedes Shaffer, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

A Celebration of Life Service will be 11:00 am Thursday May 8, 2025am, at Mt. Carmel Baptist Church in Winchester, VA. With Rev. Dr. Gilbert M. Mack, Jr., bringing the Eulogy.

Friends may come to visit from 4 to 7:00 pm, Wednesday May 7, 2025, at Cartwright Funeral Home in Winchester, VA.

The family will receive friends one before service at the church

on Thursday May 8, 2025.

The burial will be in Orrick Cemetery in Winchester, VA.
