Richard "Dickie" L. Cosby

Richard Lealius Cosby, 67 of Ranson, WV, passed away at his Home on Friday, April 24, 2015, while surrounded by his loving family, and under the care of Hospice.

He was born February 15, 1948, in Scabro, WV (formerly of Wingrove, WV); he was the son of the Late Henry Cosby and Evelyn Murray (Cosby)

Richard attended Mount Hope High School, enlisted in the U.S. Marine Corp in July 1966. He earned a National Defense Service Medal and Vietnam Campaign Medal before his honorable discharge in September 1970. He enjoyed driving, watching football and western movies. In addition to his quirky sense of humor, he loves engaging in spiritual conversation about football and history. He was larger than life and one of a kind. He will be desperately missed by his family, friends and relatives.

He is survived by his wife, Valerie Cosby of Ranson, WV,; two sisters, Brenda Ghoston of VA Beach, VA, Henreha Cosby of Detroit, MI; two brothers, Ronald (Sandra) Cosby of Upper Marlboro, MD, and Donnie Cosby of Columbia, OH; three sons, Robin Gore of Waldorf, MD, Richard Cosby, Jr. of Ranson, WV, and Donovan Cosby of Ranson, WV,; three daughters, Richelle Furlow of Atlanta GA, Victoria Cosby of Laurel, MD, and Natalie Cosby of Ranson, WV; two stepsons, Warren Johnson of Hyattsville, MD, Nathan Keye of Laurel ,MD; two step daughters, Tiffany Keye of Laurel, MD, and Monique, Keye of Hyattsville, MD,; and a host of grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his two brothers, Thomas Cosby and James Cosby; three sisters, Betty Cosby, Ira Cosby, and Eunice Cosby.

Celebration of Life Memorial Service will be 11:00 am Friday, May 1st 2015 at Cartwright Funeral Home in Winchester, VA, with Rev. Walter A. Jackson officiating.

Family will receive friend one hour before service at the funeral home.

Interment will be in Orrick Cemetery with Military Honor Afforded by the U.S. Marines and the Winchester VFW Lodge # 2123.
