Robert Irvin Finley, Sr.
Robert Irvin Finley, Sr., 78, of Millwood, VA, passed away Tuesday June 28, 2011 at his home in Millwood, VA.
He was born January 15, 1933 in Winchester, VA, the son of the late Floyd R. Finley II and Nancy Green Finley. Mr. Finley attended Frederick Douglas School in Winchester, VA. He served 20 years in the United States Air Force before retiring in 1972. He worked for 19 years at Rubbermaid Commercial Products, retiring in 1993. He was a member of Davis-Williams VFW Post # 6044.
He was married to Juanita Thornton Finley of Millwood, VA. for 54 years.
He leaves to cherish his memory with his devoted wife four daughters, Tonya A. Finley of Winchester, VA, Joyce P. Finley of Hampton, VA, Toni D. Finley of Millwood, VA and Robin M. Walker of Berryville, VA.; one son, Robert I. Finley, Jr. (Shara) of Winchester, VA; Two sisters, Gloria Dendy Johnson of New Castle, Delaware and Susie Patricia Finley of Washington, DC; 10 grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren and other relatives and friends.
One sister, Jean Jones and a brother, Floyd R. Finley III both preceded him in death.
A celebration of life service will be 12:00 p.m. Tuesday July 5, 2011 at Mt. Carmel Baptist Church with Elder Harold L. Brown officiating.
Family will receive friends one hour before service at the church.
Interment will be at Love and Charity Cemetery in Millwood, VA
with Military Honors Afforded by Winchester VFW Post # 2123.
