Robert "Bobby" Moten, Sr.

Robert "Bobby" Moten, Sr., age 87, of Winchester VA was escorted into Heaven on Sunday, November 5, 2017. Robert Moten, Sr. was born November 30, 1929 in Berryville, VA, the son of the late Marie Moten Reed and Newton Reed.

In his earlier years, he married Lucille Bland Moten, who preceded him in death.

He received his education at Clarke County Public Schools. He worked a variety of jobs throughout his lifetime, retiring from Winchester Medical Center after 30 years of dedicated service. Robert was a faithful member of John Mann United Methodist Church. Robert took pride as a Member and Past Potentate of Nile Temple No. 27, Past Commander-In-Chief of I. M. Carper, I. M. Consistory #192 and Master Mason of King Hiram Lodge #53. Robert toke pleasure in politics, news, community interests and all sports; he participated as a competitive boxer in his earlier years. Robert had a captivating personality and was kind to everyone he met. His greatest gift of service was faithfully providing support to his wife, children, family and friends.

He is survived by three daughters: Patricia Bland, Sandra (Arthur) Holloman and Ellen Moten, all of Winchester, VA.; two sons: Irvin Rowe and Robert Moten, Jr., both of Winchester, VA.; two siblings: Marie Moten of Winchester, VA. and James Moten of Chicago, Illinois. He is also survived by four grandchildren, ten great grandchildren, one great great granddaughter, and a host of in-laws, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

A Celebration of Life Service for Robert Moten will be held on Saturday, November 11, 2017. with a Viewing is at 10:00am and Funeral Service at 11:00 am at Wesley United Methodist Church of Winchester, VA. The Pastor Barbara Cousar of John Mann UMC and Wesley UMC of Winchester, VA will be officiating. The eulogist will be Rev Lorenzo Hill.

Interment will be in Charles "Buster" Jackson Community Cemetery in White Post, Virginia.
