Sammie Hamilton

Mr. Sammie Hamilton of Winchester, Virginia, entered into his eternal rest early Monday morning, February 3, 2014, due to a long tenure of ill health at the Frederick Memorial Hospital, Frederick, Maryland.

He was born February 18, 1939 in Darlington, S.C. the son of
the late Lugenia Hamilton.

Sammie was employed at WHPL and WEFG-FM Radio Stations, employed by John and Kay Bell of Winchester, Va., worked many years for the Winchester Brick Kiln Company and during his later years Sammie worked as a faithful employee of the Clarke County Public School System for over 29 faithful years as a custodian, where he was considered as a janitor with a "HEART OF GOLD".

He is survived by his wife Mrs. Violet Jackson-Hamilton, four (4) sons Sammie Hamilton, Jr., Kenneth (Doris) Hamilton, Oscar (Jackie) Hamilton, Anthony (Deborah) Paige, and four (4) daughters: Valerie (David) Wedlock, Deborah Allison, Karlya Paige, Yvette Dorsey, twelve (12) grandchildren, twelve (12) great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by four (4) sisters: Louise Hamilton McLean, Ethel Lee Tarpley, Pauline Hamilton, Ruby Campbell and two (2) grandchildren Shante Hamilton and Anthony Paige, Jr.

A Celebration of Life Service will be 12:00 noon, Saturday February 8, 2014 at Zion Baptist Church in Berryville, VA., with Rev. David Wedlock officiating.

Family will receive friends one hour before service at the church.

Interment will be in Milton Valley Cemetery in Berryville, VA
