Samuel K. McClelland

In the wee hours on Sunday, June 25, 2017 at Winchester Medical Center, GOD called his son, Samuel K. McClelland home. Samuel "Main" as he was affectionately call by his immediate family was born May 15, 1943 in Danville, VA. He was born to Ernest McClelland and the late Mary Novella Haymes Williams. He was raised also by Mr. Herbert L. Williams.

Samuel received his education from the Danville public school system. He lived in New Jersey for many years and returned to his beloved hometown of Winchester, VA some years later. He worked mostly as a cook for several years among other professions. He found his passion in cooking and worked at KFC for many years where he received accolades for his outstanding service. He was a member of the Culinary and Men's ministry at Mt. Carmel Baptist Church where he was an active and dedicated member.

He was a very loving and thoughtful Son, Father, Grandfather, Brother, Nephew, Uncle, Cousin and Friend.

He will be forever missed by his Pops, Herbert Williams of Norfolk, VA, Sister, Cedonia Carter of Norfolk, VA, Brother, Ernest McClelland of Hartford, CT, Eldest daughter, Toni (Veronica) Burnell of Rochester, NY, Baby daughter, Samantha McClelland of Woodbridge, VA, two grandchildren, Ibn McClelland of Woodbridge, VA and Kaneesha Person of Creedmoor, NC, a great granddaughter, an aunt and a host of nieces, cousins, friends, co-worker, church peers and a special friend Roberta Holness.

If you know Samuel, you would know that he was an avid baseball fan. He once played in the minor leagues for the previously known Newark Jets baseball team wearing the number 8. He now has the best seat at all the World Series Games!

A funeral service will be held Saturday July 1, 2017 at 11AM at Mt. Carmel Baptist Church, 1317 South Pleasant Valley Road in Winchester, VA.

Rev. Doctor Gilbert M. Mack, Jr. will bring the eulogy.

Viewing will be Saturday July 1, 2017 one hour before service at the church.

Interment will be in Shenandoah Memorial Park in Winchester, VA.
