Shirley Joan High Bowman

Shirley Joan High Bowman went to sleep with the Lord on March 1, 2016 at Blue Ridge Hospice in Winchester, Virginia.

She was born November 1, 1927 in Altoona, PA to the late parents James and Mae High.

She held a Master's Degree in Education from Eastern Mennonite University and taught to the age of 79.

On June 28, 1953 she married Samuel Brittian Bowman, Jr., who preceded her in death.

Mrs. Bowman raised five children; Janis (Steve) Young, Sheryl (Terry) Belford, Lora Bowman Walburn, Judi (Robert) Rissler, and Greg (Gail) Bowman; two step children, Carol Singer and Edward Bowman. She is also survived by grandchildren, Monica, Richard, Jennifer, Edward, Jr., Loren, Dorian, Stephen, Sabrina, Clint, Emily, Harmony, Miranda, Blaire, Ben, Brittny, Kayla, Nicholas, and Mary; 19 great-grand-children; and her sister, Delores Quirin.

Preceded her in death were brother, Albert High; sisters, Thelma Ruffner, Arlene High, and Florine Hite.

Family will receive friends on March 8th 2016 from 5:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Winchester SDA Church 1508 Valley Ave.

A private family service will be conduct in Shenandoah Memorial Park.
