Susie Tillie Washington Downing
Susie Washington Downing, 89, of Winchester, VA, passed away April 29,2015 at the Winchester Medical Center in Winchester, VA.
She was born April 26, 1926 in Milldale, VA the daughter of the late Thornton Washington and Mary Robinson Washington.
She leaves to cherish her memory two daughters; Naomi Washington Gilkerson and Betty Washington Jordan both of Winchester, VA.; three sons, Albert Washington and Charles Washington both of Winchester, Va., and Herbert Washington of Frederick, MD; three stepbrothers, John Downing of Front Royal, VA, William Downing of North Carolina and Nathaniel Downing of Charlestown, WV; two stepdaughters, Darlene Downing of Harrisonburg, VA and Katherine Turner of Front Royal, VA; several grand, great-grand-children and other relatives and friends; an a special friend Kwame Ellison.
Besides her parents, one daughter, Patricia Washington; three sisters, Mary Washington, Sadie Ford, and Virginia Washington; and three brothers General Washington, Robert "Hunn" Washington, Allen Washington, and Council Washington, all preceded her in death
Celebration of Life Service will be 11:00 am Wednesday 6th 2015 at Mt. Carmel Baptist Church in Winchester, VA, with Rev. Gilbert M. Mack, Jr.
Family will receive friend one hour before service at the church
Interment will be in Shenandoah Memorial Park in Winchester, VA.
In Lieu of flowers, contribution may be set to Cartwright Funeral Home 232 East Fair Lane Winchester, Virginia, for the Susie Washington Burial Fund.
