Sylvester Junior Walker
Sylvester Junior Walker, 86, of Winchester, VA, passed on Thursday April 7, 2011 at Winchester Medical Center in Winchester, VA.
He was born August 10, 1924 the son of the late Sylvester Verque Walker and Mary Suddeth Walker. He retired from the Department of the Interior as a Heavy Equipment Operator. He attended the Letcher Upholstery School and there he learned silk screening and upholstery. He was one of the top upholster on the East Coast. He was a World War II Army veteran.
He was married to Lula Schuler Walker of Winchester, VA.
He leaves to cherish his memory with his wife; one stepdaughter, Danessa D. Drumgold of Tacoma. MD; one stepson, David K. Drumgold of New York, New York; three sisters, Dorothy Dimes of Forestville, MD, Odessa Diggs of Washington, DC, and Freda Haleem of Durham, N.C.; two brothers, Thomas Barton (Frances) of New Bern, N.C. and Bertrum E. Barton of Upper Marlboro, MD.
Three sisters, Mary Paige, Delores Parker and Olivia Hawkins; one brother, Timothy Barton all preceded him in death.
A Celebration of Life will be 11:00 am Wednesday April 13, 2011 at Mt. Carmel Baptist Church in Winchester, Virginia, with Pastor Gilbert M. Mack, Jr. officiating.
Family will receive friends one hour before service on Wednesday April 13, 2011 at the church.
Interment will be in Shenandoah Memorial Park in Winchester, Virginia with Military Honors Afforded by the Winchester VFW Post #2123.
