Theodore Roosevelt Yates
Theodore R. Yates, 85, of Winchester, VA, departed this life on Monday, October 1, 2012 at VA Medical Center in Martinsburg, WV.
Mr. Yates was born March 13, 1927 in Winchester, VA, the son of the late John and Ethel Yates. He was a United States Air Force Veteran. He was a member of St. Paul A.M.E. Church in Winchester, VA, where he was a Steward and Class Leader.
He was married to Rosie Yates who preceded him in death.
He leaves to cherish his memories a daughter, Peggy A. Nelson of Winchester, VA.; two stepsons, Issac Yates of Winchester, VA., and John Richard of Lewisville, WV;a sister, Eda May Green of Hagerstown, MD; a grandson, T.R. Yates of Raleigh, N.C.; a granddaughter, Heather Beckwith of Eagan, Minn.; a great-grandson Ricky C. Yates, Jr. of Savannah, Ga.; and a host of other relatives, nieces, nephews and friends.
One grandson, Ricky Yates, Sr.; two sisters, Virgin Mary Taylor and Dorothy Rideout all preceded him in death.
A Celebration of Life Service will be 12:00 p.m., Tuesday October 9, 2012 at St. Paul A.M.E. Church in Winchester, VA with Rev. Kevin Wilson.
Family will receive friends one hour before service at the church.
Interment will be in Rosedale Cemetery in Martinsburg, WV.
